I offer individual and group instruction for flute and piccolo at the junior high and high school levels. I regularly teach private lessons, work with beginner flute classes, and provide masterclasses focused on flute fundamentals & technique and region/all-state etudes.

While there are general standards and practices I follow in my teaching, I do not believe in a "one-size-fits-all" approach because every student is unique and deserving of personalized guidance and instruction. My lessons and masterclasses cover several different topics, with examples being:

• Tone quality

• Embouchure & other body awareness

• Technique

• Aural skills

• Repertoire of different time periods and styles

• Performance anxiety

My lesson students typically showcase their work at studio recitals and local volunteer performances. I also encourage students that are interested in gaining more performance experience to audition for or join other ensembles in the Houston area and become involved in masterclasses and competitions hosted by the Houston Flute Club and National Flute Association.
