Biography
I am a private flute & piccolo lesson instructor, piano accompanist, and freelance performer based in Katy, TX.

Having grown up in Katy ISD and completed my undergraduate degree at the University of Houston, I'm well-versed in the local and state music education system & performing ensembles. I've previously performed with the TMEA 6A All-State Symphony Orchestra and 6A All-State Symphonic Band, Virtuosi of Houston Young Artists Chamber Orchestra, Katy ISD All-Star Jazz Band, various ensembles at the University of Houston, the Houston Flute Club Flute Choir, and received an Honorable Mention for the Houston Flute Club's 2025 Denise Jennings competition - Graduate/Teacher/Professional category. I currently perform with the Lone Star Symphonic Band.

I am fortunate to work with junior high and high school students from all over the Katy area. I have had several students perform in region ensembles, advance to TMEA Area auditions and the UIL State Solo and Ensemble Competition, and compete as finalists at the Houston Flute Club Flute Fest. I view my role in teaching as someone who encourages students’ exploration of different musical and artistic ideas, facilitates the knowledge and skill acquisition necessary to perform confidently and consistently, and guides students towards a sense of ownership and enjoyment in their practice.
Coming from a non-traditional background holding a PhD in Organizational Psychology from Michigan State University, I find that my previous training guides my teaching approach and allows me to talk with students about different ways to continue with music after high school.
